Two years ago, we got two new external board members in addition to me and the two owners. We decided to create an overall strategy at the same time as we replaced the CEO Morten Krusborg.
The great thing about using MakeMyStrategy and the tools it provides is that, as a member of the board, we get an overwhelming insight into what BSB Industry A/S is. Of course, we already knew something about it on the board, but we didn't have all the questions and certainly not all the answers that MakeMyStrategy provides. So we on the board have a very precise knowledge of where we were and where we wanted to go. So it makes the decision on strategy much easier.
The management team and a number of other employees have done the groundwork, working with all the questions that MakeMyStrategy asks. And when we have the answers, it's easy to see which way we should go and which way we absolutely should not go.
We find strengths and weaknesses in a completely different way than the good old-fashioned SWOT analysis.
It's a great tool that makes decisions more accurate and right.
The other board colleagues are also very enthusiastic about MakeMyStrategy and the decisions we can make based on it.
Without MakeMyStrategy , we wouldn't have been able to ask those questions and we would have been dependent on what the management team wanted and we would have had to trust them - we would have had that too - but MakeMyStrategy does a fantastic preparatory work. So we as a board are very confident about that.
Wind has always been important to BSB Industry A/S, but we all know where the wind industry is today. With MakeMyStrategy , we explored a number of other good opportunities that we are working towards.
The management uses MakeMyStrategy on a daily basis and works purposefully towards the points we have decided on and at the ordinary board meetings we always get feedback from management and the executive board on where we are and what needs to be done. We have prioritized and I have to say that it's going really well because we can measure it, we can see the progress and we can also see if something is slowing down or cannot be done at all. And behind that, we have a fantastic catalog to look at in terms of where we should put our resources.
With the results we've seen on the board and in the company, I would have no doubt in recommending MakeMyStrategy to other companies, because the time invested in it has been well spent. It's similar to the old days when we had a map when we drove a car to find our way to Lunderskov - now you just put it into the GPS and off you go.
